I was thrilled when I got an Email from Dave asking about having me come out to shoot the reaction from his (future) fiance as he proposed. This is a a dream come true for a photographer with a heart for romance. He wanted to do the proposal at the Pena Peck House on St. George Street where they first met at a friend's wedding. Sentimental city! We made plans for me to hide out at a specific time and wait for them to arrive. He told her that they were just going for a walk before dinner so that she would get dressed up without knowing what was actually going to happen. I was a bit nervous myself as I saw them walking toward the spot where he would get down on his knee. I had told a shop owner who was outside her store as I waited and several people gathered as they realized what was happening.
Allison was so surprised! She couldn't believe he proposed after he had told her that he wouldn't be ready to do this for another year or so. He had her convinced that there would be no ring for quite a while. Her whole family knew about the trip and about the proposal and hid it from her for weeks! It was really exciting to be part of the whole thing.
Once they had little time to talk over what had just happened, and Dave told her how he had planned everything right under her nose, we walked around the downtown area to do some pretty portraits of the two of them. Congratulations Dave and Allison! I wish you lots of fun in your plans for the big day! Thank you for including me in such a special occasion!
