Life and Love Studio

Jay and I have been thinking about it for while. We already work together a lot for weddings and I think it would be simpler to have one business name for what we do instead of two. Not to mention my last name is no longer Miller; it's my maiden name (but I changed it to my middle name). It takes some explaining when I meet someone and tell them my last name is Neumark but my business name is Alison Miller Photography... I started my business before Jay and I were even engaged.

So, we came up with a great new name that incorporates what both of us do... Life and Love Studio. Life (well, that's everything but I'm talking about portraits), Love (we LOVE weddings), and Studio (it could cover photography, videography, and any future creative projects we dream up)!

I have been working hard on a new web site. We're going to have everything on one place. That means condensing our current 3 sites (portraits, wedding photo, and wedding video) into ONE nice, neat package. It is going to be a transition to get us into our brand new brand. But I'm ready to start using the new logo since it's finalized and ready to be revealed.

Without further ado...

Engagement Album

Instead of a guest book (with space for guests to sign on the pages) Malorie and Jacob asked for an engagement album. So I designed the album with full page images on each page to really show them off. The album just came in a couple days ago... here are some pictures!

Google Alerts, Wedding Magazine, and a Rice Krispie Cake... oh my!

So you can set up something called "google alerts" to let you know if certain key words are entered online and it will send an email to let you know. I just set this up yesterday to see if my business name appeared online... and today I got an email! There was a link to The Knot online "real weddings" where one of my brides had posted pictures from her wedding and gave me credit for the images. Apparently it has gotten 216 views. That made me very happy. If you would like to see the wedding click here.

Since I'm bragging blogging about business news, I also found out recently that Alison Miller Photography is listed as a NE Florida photographer on the Weddings Florida Magazine web site.

And to end this entry with a picture, here is a great wedding cake idea I saw while I was on the knot's web site: a Rice Krispie Cake!

Too early? Nah!

I know you've been forming your list already! Will they agree to a family session if it's a gift for you? Have you been wanting to get some sexy boudoir pictures done? Add us to your list!

Rebecca and Adrian

It started to rain after their wedding ceremony which dampened our plans for outdoor photos...but we had a beautiful alternative backdrop in the lobby of the Lightner Museum. I would highly recommend this location for all couples who are thinking of getting married nearby. It's gorgeous... and so were my bride and groom! A fabulous combination, would you agree?

It's not even Halloween but the Pestano Family is ready for the holidays...

I very rarely post family photos because I do them most often and it would be impossible to keep up with them all... so I really only blog weddings. Then came the Pestanos, and I just couldn't resist. I worked with Jen and Jason once before for a vow renewal on the beach (actually a long story, ask me about it sometime). When she told me about her ideas for a family shoot with a vintage, European holiday theme I was excited. I really love when clients come to me with their own creative ideas. And I LOVE to play dress up. So on an unseasonably humid, warm evening we got them all scarved and gloved for some Christmas card photos downtown. Lucky me, they were good sports about the weather. Hey, it wasn't my idea! But I think they'd agree it was totally worth it!

They are a very sweet family, such a pleasure to work with! The girls even gave me a hug goodbye!

Pestano family, thanks for a wonderful shoot!

Jax Shoot Club

I posted recently about a group called PUG that meets once a month to talk shop about photography and sometimes shoot together. Well I just went to another group called Jacksonville Shoot Club put on by two very talented local photographer couples, Kara & Jeremy (Kara Pennington Photography) and Melanie & Bradford (La Dolce Vita Studio) . The group also meets once a month (I think) to do a shoot with models and socialize. This was their second time getting together and the turnout was amazing. On September 29th, 80 Jacksonville photographers showed up, cameras in hand, ready to take some photos... I was one of them. Here are my best shots.

More Susanna and Gerry

A while back I mentioned that I added Susanna and Gerry's album design to my main web site. They also asked me to send some of their pictures to the Casa Monica for inclusion on their blog. I used some of the pages of their album to send over to the girls at the hotel and thought I'd include the images here too.
