Yesterday I went to my very first friend's baby shower. How exciting! Actually, three of my friends are pregnant!! I found out about all of them within about one month. Even with the downturned economy people keep busy ;) ... or should I say especially.
I know Kara through working on Art and Design Magazine together. She was a writer for it and I did the photos for a short time. The magazine only lasted a year but I got Kara out of it :) She is now my friend and Manatee Cafe lunch buddy.
Even though it was my first friend's baby shower it was not my first baby shower... but it was the best. Her future mother-in-law, Susan, was the hostess and she did an amazing job. From delicious, catered, organic food to a signature drink (both food and drinks by du jour), a great location at the Pena Peck House, and gorgeous party favors. The centerpieces doubled as the party favors - at each place setting there were recycled glass-bottle vases filled with beautiful spring flowers. They were sandblasted with unique designs by a local artist, Kyle Goodwin of Hunter Glass. I think this would also be a great idea for wedding favors!
I only brought my point and shoot camera to the shower, but when I got home I took a picture of the flowers and vase with my regular camera because I liked them so much. Here is Kara and I, her baby's new pink bikini, and the flower party favor.
